"Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not."
(Luke 12:40)
"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only" (Matt. 24:36). Nobody knows the day or the hour, but the signs are all around. We don't know when, but we do know that the coming of Jesus is momentary and imminent. We are to live our lives as though the next moment we are going to enter into His presence, stand before His judgment, and present to Him a life that is holy and acceptable through our reasonable service. It is at hand.
Luke 12:40 says, "Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when you think not." What is the hour when the Lord is coming? It's not about the day; it's about being ready. What does it matter what day if you are ready every day? This day cannot overtake you unawares if you walk in the light. What are you doing about your momentary righteousness and momentary pursuit of light? What are you doing about the real heart condition of yourself and your family? Are you compelled to have your family ready when the trumpet sounds? What does it profit to gain the world and lose our souls? Not everybody that says "Lord, Lord" shall enter into heaven (Matt. 7:21). Do you love His appearing?
Revelation 16:15 says, "Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame." Watch that you enter not into temptation. Look up. Have you been so distracted by the glitz and the glamour of this era that you have stopped looking up and have forgotten what you are living for? We are enduring this life unto eternal life. Are you ready? It is about making those ready that are around us, shaking loved ones from their slumber. Do not let those closest to you be found without oil.
In this generation as the Church continues to be seduced and the Bride wooed into slumber, drugged with prosperity, ease, fame, and power, do not defile your garments. Do not be found naked but robed in righteousness, not in the regal garb of this generation, but as the prophets of old in sackcloth and ashes, a people separate, a people waiting, a people prepared. We are foolish and weak in the eyes of the world but are those that God calls sons, ambassadors, light, the Body of Christ, the Church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against us.
Are you looking up? Do you realize who you are? We are not of this world; we are just in it. We are a holy bride not a whore. We are ambassadors and warriors, weak in the eyes of the world, but strong in the kingdom of God--only as we look up, only as our weapons are mighty through God. At every turn there is a distraction. At a time when you think not the Son of Man returns. When He comes will He find faith?
How do you become content in your single condition? By looking up. How do you endure the hardships of your marriage at this moment? By looking up. How do you deal with fears, discontentment and the seduction of this time? By looking up. Even so come, Lord Jesus, come. Come for us, Lord. Take a moment and tell Him that you love Him and that you long for Him. We know His presence, but we will see Him as He is, praise God, and be like Him. I am so tired of being what I am. I want to be like Him, praise God. Come, Lord Jesus.
