"Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord."
(Romans 6:11)

To reckon means not only to realize or to be aware of, but is an accounting term that means "to put to your account" the fact that sin is no longer dominant in your life. The old man is dead. You are a new creature. The things you used to love you now hate. Have you put that to your account once for all? Have you finally stopped judging yourself by all of your failures and realize you are the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ? Are you living there? Or when sin does manifest in your life do you say, "Oh, I thought he was dead." He is dead. You call things that are not as though they were. To your account is imputed (reckoned) absolute, perfect righteousness. Do you know what? God sees you that way--infinitely and eternally with full, absolute knowledge! God's total omniscience knows you to be righteous. Think about that.

God's purpose is for your victory. We all know it doctrinally, but I have some good news for you today: God is for you, praise God! He is on your side. God has made provision for you to win. He has already declared your victory. The banquet table is prepared. There is a seat there with a nameplate: "Victor, more than a conqueror, son of God, heir and joint heir with Christ Jesus." All you have to do is reckon it. Are you a victor? I reckon. I see it. I proclaim it. I agree with God. I don't understand it. It doesn't always look like it. I feel like a failure, but I acknowledge I am the righteousness of God in Jesus Christ.

When you see yourself as a spotless son of God, the righteousness of God, the innocent of God, the pure of God, you will no longer condescend to those low, slimy, sinful traits. Sin is beneath you. You're too good for it. As you reckon this in your life, you can boast in the finished work, not in your ability or any of your efforts. You won't get into heaven because you did ten righteous things and nine bad ones. There is no score; we won. Jesus' blood is the propitiation, that which has appeased God. We are living for the glory of God, to honor Him.

Many of us are involved right now with many physical needs in our lives. Can I share something with you? You can't pray enough to get healed. You can't believe enough. You can quote all the Scriptures you want on healing, but that's not going to get you healed. What will get you healed is to reckon to your account that by the stripes of Jesus you are healed. It's a done deal. God wants you healed; you want you healed. You are healed. Rest. Just begin to worship God and thank Him that it's a finished work.

"Well, why am I not healed? Is there sin in my life? Maybe I didn't hold my tongue right when I prayed."

What does that have to do with anything when the Word of God says, "By the stripes of Jesus we are healed" and "The prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise them up"? That's what I reckon; that's what I have to say. Beloved, faith is calling things that are not as though they were (Rom. 4:17). The problem with so many of us is we want to get healed to feel better, and we should want to get healed for the glory of God. Everything is living for the glory of God, not for our gain or our personal reputation. We are living to know Him. This is what Father is calling us to.
