It violates the purpose of God when we try to get glory for ourselves. God created us to bring Him glory. It's offensive when we want to take credit from God's glory. God wants us to bear fruit for His glory. All creation speaks of God's glory. God has designed for us to find joy, delight and gladness in all He is. Take some time to mediate on His greatness and the glorious splendor of his majesty. We're being delivered from the love of us. It's so much better to rejoice and delight in God than to rejoice and delight in yourself. God wants us to find our joy and contentment and satisfaction in Him. When you get a glimpse of God you don't need anything else. Every attribute of God is awesome. God delights in His own glory. There is no greater love that God can have for you than to point you to Himself.
