The chastening is for your eternal good. Throughly wash me over and over. We mistake the sin in our heart for the sin in our members. The sin in our heart has to go. There must be a cleansing of the heart. Forgiveness and cleansing are always together. God is the standard we live by. Godly sorrow has one source - I have broken the heart of my Father. Repenting people are desperate people. You see what is in you that caused the action. We often have to be brought to the end of ourselves. How much of your repentance is your work? It's ridiculous to think that you can do something to purify your own heart. God's part is the purifying. Our part is communing with God. Unbelief takes us out of God's rest. The Word of God operating in you is your only hope of freedom.
